American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown Cardiac RN with strong PCU experience to care for inpatient/CICU level holds within an ED surge unit.

Details

• Position is within an ED Surge unit, with travelers contracted to care for inpatient/CICU level holds in the ED
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, and pneumonia
• Overflow coverage for medical, surgical, trauma, oncology, and orthopedic patients as needed
• Cares for patients s/p cardiac cath with stent (no CABG), ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions
• Manages and titrates drips including Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrilin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
• Uses BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and Phillips monitoring system
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating expected using a Helping Hands/Team Nursing approach to similar units, with assignments matched to clinical skill set

Requirements

• Active NH state RN license or compact license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CPI preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with a strong PCU background within the last year
• ED experience preferred but not required
• EKG test required upon arrival
• Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers
• Skills required in cardiac drip titration, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry monitoring
• Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care required
• Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required

Additional Information

• No Thanksgiving RTO permitted for this assignment
• Former staff of the facility are not accepted for travel roles regardless of time separated
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
• First-time travelers are accepted only with Epic experience and a minimum of 2 years of overall experience
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
• Only AHA and Red Cross certifications are accepted
• Drug screen must be completed within 14 days of start date
