American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown Cardiac RN to care for inpatient/CICU level holds in the ED, requiring 2 years of strong PCU experience and a NH or compact RN license.

Details

• Hospital setting within the Stepdown Cardiac unit, contracted to the ED to care for inpatient/CICU level holds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Cares for patients with chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, and pneumonia
• Sees overflow patients from Medical, Surgical, Trauma, Oncology, and Orthopedic services
• Manages post-cath patients with stents (no CABG), ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions
• Manages and titrates drips including Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
• Uses BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and Phillips monitoring system
• Floating expected to similar units using a Helping Hands/Team Nursing approach
• Patient sitting required, but only within matching clinical assignment or team

Requirements

• Active NH state RN license or compact license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross only)
• 2 years of RN experience required, including a strong PCU background within the last year
• ED experience preferred but not required
• EKG test required upon arrival
• EPIC EMR experience required for first-time travelers
• References required for consideration
• Experience managing and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to stepdown cardiac and overflow patients while contracted to the ED
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Manage dysrhythmias and provide telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Perform sheath removal and provide pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Practice isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• First-time travelers accepted only with EPIC experience and 2 years of nursing experience
• Former staff not accepted for travel roles regardless of time separated
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility accepted at the local rate
• No RTO available for Thanksgiving
• Drug screen must be completed within 14 days of start date
