American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN with an active MD or Compact license and required trach/ventilator management experience.

Details

• Mixed pediatric unit combining rehab and step-down care (not a PCU unit)
• Patient population includes pediatric and adolescent patients with diagnoses such as TBI, spinal cord injury, GSW, MVA, burns, feeding disorders, failure to thrive, spina bifida, and cerebral palsy
• Also cares for post-orthopedic surgical patients requiring extensive PT/OT/ST
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• 3x12 rotating day/night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty and other departments, including occasional float to the Largo campus through 10/8/26
• No on-call requirements
• Meditech charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required
• BLS certification required (CPI preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric rehab or pediatric acute care experience with required skill set (non-negotiable)
• Trach and ventilator management experience required
• Experience with respiratory or cardiac patients required
• Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, NG tube insertion/management, and tube feedings
• Wound assessment/care experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care within a mixed pediatric rehab and step-down environment
• Scrubs may be any color or pattern
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments and should be comfortable floating within scope
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• Returning staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a travelers
• Returning travelers must have a minimum 6-month break from the system before starting a new assignment
