American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN with 2+ years of pediatric rehab or acute care experience and required tracheostomy/ventilator management skills.

Details

• Hospital setting in a mixed Pediatric Stepdown unit combining rehab and PCU-level care
• Patient population includes pediatric and adolescent patients
• Diagnoses include TBI, spinal cord injury, GSW, MVA trauma, burns, feeding disorders, failure to thrive, spina bifida, and CP
• Also cares for post-orthopedic surgical patients requiring extensive ST/PT/OT
• Patient ratio is 1:4
• Meditech charting system experience preferred
• Night shift, 3x12 rotating schedule (19:00-07:30 or 07:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the specialty and to other departments as needed, including occasional floating to another campus through 10/8/26
• No on-call requirements
• Scrubs may be any color or pattern

Requirements

• Active RN license (Maryland or Compact) required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• CPI certification required for most units (Calm Every Storm online version accepted)
• ACLS and PALS certifications preferred (AHA only)
• NRP certification accepted (NRP or AAP)
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric rehab or pediatric acute care experience required with required skill set
• Tracheostomy and ventilator management experience required
• Experience with respiratory or cardiac patients required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and NG tube insertion/management
• Experience with feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and wound assessment/care preferred
• Experience with oral/nasal suctioning and oxygen delivery systems

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care in a mixed pediatric rehab/stepdown unit supporting complex diagnoses including neurologic and spinal cord injuries
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must be comfortable floating within scope with no scheduling restrictions
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
• Returning staff must have been away from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have been away from the system for at least 6 months after completing a prior assignment
• Maximum RTO request is 7 days; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
