American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with an active PA or Compact license and at least 1 year of experience for a hospital position requiring floating and holiday coverage.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes general med/surg, orthopedic, neurological/psychiatric, gastrointestinal, respiratory, genitourinary/renal, and endocrine/metabolic cases
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Shift options include Night (3x12, 19:00-7:30) or Day (3x12, 7:00-19:30), though straight days will not be accepted
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius as needed
• Candidates must be available to work every other holiday

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, PCA medication management, isolation precautions/PPE, and cardiac monitoring/emergency response
• Experience managing dysrhythmias and utilizing rapid response/code teams
• Experience with chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Experience with peripheral nerve block catheters and total joint replacement care preferred
• Two supervisor references required
• Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care across a diverse patient population
• Collaborate with rapid response and code teams during emergency situations
• Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing
• All compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to start
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
• Travel pairs may be accommodated based on facility need, though the same schedule cannot be guaranteed
