American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Behavioral Health position requiring MOAB and BLS certification with a NM or compact RN license.

• 1 Trauma, teaching hospital setting
• Behavioral Health unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Patient diagnoses include depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ASD, TBI, and neurocognitive disorders
• Patient ratio of 1:8
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend shifts required depending on unit needs
• Floating required between two Adult Psych units and geriatric units
• No on-call requirements
• Cerner EMR used for charting

Requirements

• ,
• MOAB certification required, or willingness to complete facility-provided MOAB training during orientation week
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Active NM or compact RN license required
• Pending license accepted
• Non-local driver's license required on file
• Skills in medication administration including antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, and sedative/analgesic medications
• Experience caring for patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, and suicidal or self-injurious behavior
• Proficiency in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and managing assaultive behavior
• Knowledge of seclusion protocols, physical hold protocols, and voluntary/involuntary commitment procedures

Additional Information

• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a locked inpatient unit
• Utilize therapeutic approaches including behavior management techniques and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) support
• Perform clinical skills such as blood glucose monitoring, Foley catheter insertion/management, and NG tube insertion/management as needed
• Black scrub color required
• No parking fees at this facility
• Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require approval
• COVID vaccine is optional, but candidates must upload vaccination series or submit a declination
• Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
• Travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark require a 6-month break before returning to the system
