American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a 13-week assignment requiring a Compact or LA RN license and Epic EMR experience.

Details

• Work in the Oncology unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes Hematology, Medical Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and Gynecologic & Surgical Oncology cases
• Care provided in a 7-bed positive pressure wing for BMT and acute leukemia patients
• Performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
• Utilizes Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps, Alaris feeding pumps, barcode medication administration, and SCD machines
• Epic EMR experience required
• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Day shift schedule (4x12 hours, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM)
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• Floating required
• No on-call requirement

Requirements

• Active Compact or LA RN license required in hand upon submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
• ONS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of oncology specialty experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry preferred
• Experience with GI care including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management preferred
• Experience with renal and hemodialysis patient management preferred
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required within 4 weeks of submission

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to hematology, oncology, BMT, and surgical oncology patients
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy treatments as needed
• Perform bedside procedures including central line placements and bone marrow biopsies
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols for immunocompromised patients
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
• Must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
• Former Ochsner Health permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Orientation is held five days a week
