American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring an active MD or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of PACU experience.

Details

• Work in a 16-bed PACU within a hospital setting
• Care for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include orthopedic, neurology, cardiothoracic, vascular, general, thoracic, urology, and gynecology surgery cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (07:30-20:00)
• Work 36 hours per week on an every-other-weekend (EOW) rotation
• Weekend requirement of 2 weekends per schedule cycle
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within the specialty, rotating with pre-op for this contract
• May be required to float to a sister facility as needed
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active MD or Compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA only for BLS/ACLS/PALS)
• CPI certification required for compliance (Calm Every Storm online version accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with 3-5 years of PACU experience or 2 years of ICU experience
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills in respiratory care, cardiovascular monitoring, and post-anesthesia care required
• Experience with pre/post-operative patient care required

Additional Information

• Provide post-anesthesia care to surgical patients across a wide range of specialties including cardiac, neuro, ortho, vascular, and general surgery
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
• On-call has not yet been implemented for this unit; a 30-day notice will be given if this changes
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not eligible unless the posting specifically states locals are accepted
• Maximum RTO request is 7 days; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the back end of the contract
• One major holiday off during the winter season may be allowed depending on unit needs
• Returning travelers must have been away from the health system for at least 6 months after their last assignment
• Former staff must be gone from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Extensions typically limited to one contract plus one extension, followed by a required 6-month break before returning to the same facility or unit
• First-time travelers will be considered if they meet the required PACU or ICU experience threshold
