American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Medical Surgical unit requiring an active NY LPN license and 1+ year of acute care experience within the last 2 years.

Details

• Work on a Medical Surgical unit in an acute care teaching hospital
• Care for medical patients with COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, and social issues
• Patient ratio of approximately 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
• May be required to float within skillset
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active New York Single State LPN license required at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
• Pending licenses not accepted
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience within the last 2 years
• Must be able to take own patient assignment with RN support
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, and physical restraints
• Skilled in specimen labeling, oxygen administration via nasal cannula, feeding tube management, telemetry monitoring, and 12-lead EKG
• Skilled in medication administration including oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, and ear/eye drops
• Experience with IV therapy using pumps and blood glucose monitoring
• Skilled in basic wound care including simple dressings and JP/Hemovac drains
• Experience with bathing, mouth care, and Foley catheter insertion (male/female)
• Ability to communicate patient status changes to RN/MD

• Candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to qualify for standard travel rate
• Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without incurring charges
• Previous travelers returning to this facility must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
• All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
