American Traveler is hiring a RN - Med/Surg with 24 months of Med/Surg hospital experience, PCA and Heparin drip experience, and EPIC EMR proficiency for a multi-campus float position.

Details

• Work in a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit within a hospital/medical center setting
• Required to float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Patient population includes hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery cases
• Administers PCA and Heparin drips
• Unit features an emotional support canine
• Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

• Active Iowa (IA) RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg experience in a hospital or medical center setting required
• PCA and Heparin drip experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Post-op surgical experience highly preferred
• Patient care experience with hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery cases highly preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Medical Surgical patients recovering from orthopedic, breast, and abdominal surgeries
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Candidates previously employed by the facility within the 12 months prior to submission may not be eligible
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
• Required to work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving)
• Limited to 1 day off request between 11/26/25-11/30/25 and 12/23/25-1/2/26 regardless of holidays worked
