American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring at least one year of medical oncology experience and an active NJ or Compact RN license.

Details

• Adult medical oncology unit treating GI, GU, breast, head and neck, neuro, thoracic, lymphoma, and leukemia patients
• Also cares for GYN oncology and classic hematology patients (sickle cell, anemia, factor 8, ITP)
• Performs bone marrow biopsies, paps, biopsies, colposcopy, and pelvic exams in clinic setting
• Day shift schedule, 5x7.5-hour shifts, 37.5 hours per week
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating required within skillset, with ratios varying based on census and patient acuity

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of medical oncology nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in accessing and managing ports, central line blood draws, and PICC line care
• Experience administering Neupogen, hormonal therapy, and coagulation factors
• Colostomy care experience required
• Knowledge of oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression preferred
• Experience managing symptoms such as nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, dysphagia, and altered mental status
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Two current professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a wide range of oncology diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and blood cancers
• Deliver psychosocial support including advanced directives, patient/family education, and symptom management
• Administer pain management therapies including IV push narcotics and transdermal patches
• Perform wound care, tracheostomy management, and neutropenic precautions
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Requested time off must be confirmed and submitted prior to consideration; RTO requests after an offer will not be accommodated
• Assignment is expected to serve as the traveler's primary work commitment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for at least one year to be eligible
• Open or active background/license hits are not accepted
• Labs must be completed within 48 hours of signing
• International work history or permanent residency must be disclosed
