American Traveler is hiring a Psychiatric RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in Kansas City, MO, requiring an active MO or compact RN license and current CPI certification.

Details

• Work within a psychiatric hospital setting across ADOL, Serenity, ITU, SRAD, and VINE units
• ADOL unit serves patients ages 12-18, Serenity is a lower-acuity adult unit, ITU treats higher-acuity adult patients with thought disorder diagnoses, SRAD serves senior lifestyle patients, and VINE is a lower-acuity adult unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 8:1 with MHT support at 12:1
• Uses Meditech documentation system
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Coverage required for three 12-hour shifts daily, seven days a week, including weekends
• No on-call requirements
• Floating utilized based on greatest facility need

Requirements

• Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS and CPI certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing
• Ability to assess mental health status, recognize psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems
• Skilled in developing individualized care plans and implementing therapeutic interventions
• Knowledge of psychotropic medication administration and monitoring
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills required
• Strong therapeutic communication skills to build patient trust and rapport
• No employment gaps of 90+ days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for monitoring patients' physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
• Follows HCA's I CARE values (integrity, compassion, always, respect) and AIDET communication framework to enhance patient experience
• Dress code: RNs wear blue, MHTs wear black or green
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
• Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract
