American Traveler is hiring a Psychiatric RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring an active MO or compact RN license and CPI certification.

Details

• Work in a psychiatric hospital setting across ADOL, Serenity, ITU, SRAD, and VINE units
• ADOL unit serves adolescent patients ages 12-18; Serenity and VINE are lower acuity adult units; ITU is a higher acuity adult unit for patients with thought disorder diagnoses; SRAD serves patients living a senior lifestyle
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 8:1, with MHT ratio of 12:1
• Uses Meditech documentation system
• 12-hour shifts scheduled 7A-7P, with coverage required seven days a week including weekends
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to units of greatest need as determined by staffing needs

Requirements

• Active RN license (MO or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and CPI (Blue Card)
• Minimum 1 year of recent psychiatric/behavioral health nursing experience required
• Skilled in psychiatric assessment, care planning, medication management, and crisis intervention
• Strong therapeutic communication skills including active listening and rapport-building
• No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Assess patients' mental health status, including psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems through patient histories and observation
• Develop and implement individualized care plans with defined goals and outcome evaluations
• Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
• Provide crisis intervention including de-escalation techniques for situations such as suicidal ideation or aggression
• Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs and mental status changes
• Follow facility ICARE values (integrity, compassion, always, respect) and utilize AIDET communication techniques
• RNs wear blue and black scrubs; MHTs wear green or black
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
