American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU position on an acute leukemia and hematology unit, requiring 2 years of acute care experience and current BLS/ACLS certifications.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a cancer hospital and research center
• Care for adult and geriatric patients newly diagnosed with acute leukemia
• 12-hour Day/Night rotating or 12-hour Night shift schedule (3x12, 19:00-7:30)
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, with potential for 1:5
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• Uses Epic for computerized charting
• No chemo certification required for this position

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
• At least 1 year of PCU experience required
• Oncology experience preferred; training provided for oncology patients
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with central line and PICC line care/management
• Experience with peripheral line care/management and blood product administration
• Experience accessing and managing ports preferred
• Experience with feeding tube care and management
• Experience utilizing Rapid Response Teams
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor
• Charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
• First-time travelers will be considered

• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for a travel position at any of its Ohio hospital locations
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location soon after booking
• Candidates at extreme distances will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to complete urgently upon receipt
