American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring specialized ortho, gyn, and sports medicine surgical experience with a compact or TX RN license.

Details

• Work in the Operating Room department of a surgical hospital setting
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
• Weekday nights, weekend, and holiday on-call required
• No weekend shift requirement
• Floating required between units and sister facilities within the state
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Uses electrosurgical units, Hana Table, Steris, robotics, and Mako Surgical System equipment

Requirements

• Active Compact or TX RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Ortho Mako, Gynecology, Sports Medicine, and Ortho Total Joints experience required
• Experience with procedures including hysterectomy, colporrhaphy, laparoscopic gynecological procedures, ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, spinal fusion, total joint replacement, and general surgery procedures
• Skills in blood product administration, infection control, specimen handling, peripheral IV starts, Universal Protocol time-out procedures, and urinary catheterization
• Preferred charge nurse experience
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across orthopedic, gynecologic, general surgery, urology, and neurology specialties
• Perform emergency management procedures including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside within 50 miles for local candidate consideration at applicable pay rate
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Holiday coverage required for at least 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-submission requests may not be accommodated
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
