American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN with chemotherapy certification for a Med/Surg Oncology unit requiring a compact or CO state RN license.

Details

• Work in the Oncology Chemo Certified unit of a regional medical center
• Care for patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and other solid tumors
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• 13-week assignment length
• Meditech charting system experience preferred
• Paragon and Practice Partner experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (Standard or Compact) in Colorado or compact state required
• Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications preferred
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Two supervisor references completed within the past 18 months required
• Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, and central line care
• Experience administering chemotherapy via IV push, oral, and continuous infusion methods
• Knowledge of oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and extravasation injury
• Experience managing chemotherapy-related side effects and symptom management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in inpatient and outpatient oncology settings, including infusion center care
• Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and manage associated complications and side effects
• Coordinate care and provide patient/family education and psychosocial support
• Perform wound care, ostomy management, and Foley catheter insertion/management as needed
• Utilize neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols
• Manage pain through PCA pumps, transdermal patches, and IV push narcotic agents
• Assist with post-surgical care as needed
• Finalized RTO must be submitted at time of consideration, with no RTO permitted during the first 2 weeks of the assignment and a maximum of 10 total RTO days
• Full calendar weeks of RTO are not accepted
