American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Behavioral Health RN with 2 years of experience and a TX or compact RN license for a 13-week assignment.

• Work in a Pediatric Behavioral Health unit within a hospital setting
• Care for pediatric and adolescent patients ages 5-17
• Patient ratio of 1:11
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required, in-hand prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• Nursys certification required
• Safe program certification preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Travel experience highly preferred
• Experience with medication administration including antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, and sedative/analgesic medications preferred
• Experience caring for patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, and substance use disorders
• Skilled in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and behavior management
• Experience with blood glucose monitoring, Foley catheter insertion/management, and seclusion protocols
• Experience with emergent chemical restraints, physical hold protocols, and cardiac arrest/CPR response preferred
• Experience in inpatient, locked unit, and medical/psych treatment settings preferred
• Knowledge of legal aspects related to seclusion use and voluntary/involuntary commitment preferred

Additional Information

• Position is staff nurse only, no charge nurse responsibilities
• Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for positive results
• Candidates must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or have a completion plan in place
• Local candidates within 110 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
• First-time travelers may be considered given the travel experience preference is not mandatory
