American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric OR position requiring an active CA license, prior travel experience, and 1 year of acute care with 6 months of Peds OR experience.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric OR unit of a children's hospital
• Patient population includes ENT, Urology, Neuro, General, Ortho, and Trauma cases
• Handles both inpatient and outpatient surgical cases
• Average daily census of 25 patients per day
• Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• Uses Surginet charting system
• Functions as a CLN Nurse 1 with break nurse duties approximately 20% of an 8-hour shift
• Every other weekend requirement
• Call requirement of minimum 3 weekday nights and 2 weekends per 6-week schedule
• Weekend requirement of minimum 1-2 weekend day shifts per 6-week schedule period
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments

Requirements

• Active California RN license required in hand at time of submission (pending or temporary licenses not accepted)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• BSN required
• Minimum 1 year acute care experience required
• Minimum 6 months Pediatric OR experience required
• Accepts candidates with either inpatient or ambulatory experience background
• Prior travel experience required (no first-time travelers)
• IV Start and Circulate skills required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Two supervisor-level or above references required from the applicable unit, dated within 1 year of start date or from most recent employer

Additional Information

• Perform circulating nurse duties across a variety of pediatric surgical specialties including General Surgery, Orthopedic, Urology, Podiatry, Neurology, and ENT procedures
• Familiarity with Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedure required
• Up to 16 hours of orientation modules may be required and are billable when completed during orientation
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before reapplying to travel positions
• Rehire eligibility for returning travelers who were previously cancelled requires facility leadership review
• Clinicians on a do-not-return list from Rady Children's Hospital will not be considered for this position due to the merger with Rady Children's Health
