American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Behavioral Health unit within a hospital setting
• Inpatient care for patients with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and major depression
• Target patient ratio of 1:8
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 18:45-07:15
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to other units such as EDBH or the geriatric BH unit within the facility
• 36 hours per week may be offered
• Utilizes Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• BLS certification required
• MOAB certification required (facility will provide)
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in medication administration including antianxiety and antidepressant medications
• Experience caring for patients with bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders
• Proficient in de-escalation techniques

Additional Information

• Provide direct inpatient psychiatric care including medication administration and therapeutic de-escalation techniques
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Unit orientation is 24 hours, with hospital orientation classes required daily during the first week
• Must wear solid print navy blue or white scrubs
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Additional RTO requests after booking are not permitted
• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower rate
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
• Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units
