American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a high-acuity float pool position requiring advanced mechanical circulatory support experience, including ECMO, and a CA RN license.

Details

• Float pool position within ICU, TCUs, ED, and PACU at an academic medical center
• Cares for complex critical care patients including cardiovascular, transplant, and multi-organ support cases
• Utilizes advanced devices including ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and PA catheters
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
• Schedule cycles run 4 weeks and may alternate between day and night shifts based on need
• Required to float to other facilities and departments within the health system
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BSN required
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required
• Recent ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required
• Experience managing ECMO patients as primary bedside RN without dedicated perfusion support required
• CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required, including a completed assignment within the past 12 months and no more than 1 year of travel experience in the past 5 years
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required for independent management of complex critical care patients
• VA ECMO, VV ECMO, and V-PA ECMO experience strongly preferred
• CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, and Ventricular Assist Device experience strongly preferred
• Experience with heart failure/cardiogenic shock and pulmonary artery catheters strongly preferred
• Cardiothoracic, heart, and lung transplant recovery experience strongly preferred
• Experience simultaneously managing multiple mechanical support devices highly desirable

• Provides advanced critical care nursing for patients requiring mechanical circulatory support and multi-organ therapies
• Candidates are evaluated on their ability to function within an integrated critical care model, with ECMO experience considered as one part of a broader cardiovascular and transplant competency profile
• May be reassigned to different departments, units, or facilities within a 75+ mile radius at any time during the assignment based on qualifications
• All RTO must be disclosed and approved at the time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract and no RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for a rehire eligibility review
• Travel pairs may be accepted but generally will not be placed on the same unit
