American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Tele position requiring 2 years of experience, BLS certification, and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• 36-bed telemetry/surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 13-week assignment length
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Requirements

• Active VA RN license in hand, or proof of compact license, required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required, with ACLS preferred; must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with specialty experience within the last year
• Epic charting system experience required
• NIH and stroke education required
• 1 year of charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, colostomy/ileostomy care, CVA care, heparin/insulin/PCA medication management, isolation precautions/PPE, and telemetry monitoring
• Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, chest tube management, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, and pre/post hemodialysis management

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry and surgical nursing care in a Med/Surg-Tele unit
• Perform cardiac monitoring and emergency response as needed
• Manage patients with renal failure and those requiring pre/post hemodialysis care
• Prior permanent employees must have a gap of at least 6 months before being eligible for travel assignment consideration
• Requests for time off should be minimal, ideally no full calendar weeks and no more than 7 days total during the assignment
• Time off requests must be submitted with the initial application, with no additional requests approved after an offer is extended
• Candidates cannot work both travel and per diem contracts simultaneously at this health system
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
