American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Cardiac Stepdown unit requiring stepdown/med-surg tele experience and EPIC proficiency.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 32-bed Cardiac Stepdown unit (22 stepdown beds, 10 floor beds)
• Patient population includes cardiology, heart failure, cardiac surgery, medicine, and hospitalist med-surg cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 on stepdown and 1:5-6 on the floor
• RNs are required to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, nitro, Cardizem, nicardipine, Lasix, amiodarone, and dobutamine
• Clinical associates support the unit, typically at a 1:16 ratio overnight
• Dedicated tele techs monitor Phillips telemetry equipment off-unit
• RT equipment on the unit includes NC, CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, and trach-to-vent with dedicated RT support
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour night shifts with weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Weekend requirement of 3-4 Saturday/Sunday sets, 2 Fridays, and 2 Mondays in a 4-week period, or every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for weekend nightshift positions
• Holiday coverage required for one eve and one day shift (Thanksgiving or Black Friday, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day)
• No call or standby requirements
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Floating required, with travelers typically pulled first; rotational pull to floor assignment approximately 1 out of every 3 shifts

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Stepdown and med-surg/tele experience required
• Cardiac experience preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• BSN not required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to cardiac and stepdown patients, including titration of high-acuity drips
• Dedicated charge nurse typically covers each shift, though may carry 1-3 patients depending on staffing
• 3 house supervisors are present in the building at all times
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation provided
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate (100 miles for Princeton Community Hospital)
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must complete a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than 1 year cumulatively before requiring a 2-year break
