American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float position requiring at least 3 years of RN experience and ventilator competency.

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele Float unit of a hospital setting
• Unit has an average census of 36 with 36 total beds
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Care for adolescent to geriatric patients with general medical-surgical and moderate volume orthopedic surgical cases
• Total joint orthopedic experience required
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• May float within the facility
• Epic EMR experience required
• Royal blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
• Ventilator experience is a hard requirement
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Telemetry and med-surg competencies required, specifically orthopedic and simple gynecological procedures (hysterectomies/myomectomies)
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring
• Experience using Rapid Response Teams
• Cardiovascular experience including pre/post cardiac catheterization, post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac surgery
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication management skills including heparin protocols and non-titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Respiratory and thoracic skills including chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac), CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy care
• Must pass an onsite EKG competency exam and Relias EKG test prior to start
• References required for consideration

• Provide comprehensive telemetry and medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population
• Manage post-surgical and cardiac patients requiring close monitoring

• Return staff considered on a case-by-case basis
• RTO must be submitted with initial application and confirmed for the full 13-week contract
• No time off permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
