American Traveler is hiring an experienced ECMO Specialist RN for a pediatric/adult ECMO program requiring MI RN licensure, EPIC and RRT certification.

Details

• Large volume pediatric and adult ECMO program within a children's hospital setting
• Focus on stable pediatric ECMO patients including congenital heart disease, congenital diaphragmatic hernias, and respiratory failure cases
• Patient ratios of 1:1, occasionally 1:2 for pediatric circuits, and 1:3 for adults using remote monitoring and rounding care model
• Rotating day and night shifts on a 3x12 hour schedule (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
• Weekend requirement of 2 weekends per 4-week scheduling period
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required in-hand at time of consideration (compact license not accepted)
• Current BLS and RRT certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of ECMO specialist experience required
• Prior ECMO specialist experience at an urban or academic medical center required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Skills in IV therapy and blood product administration required
• Experience in cardiovascular, medical, or surgical ICU settings preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide nurse-driven ECMO protocol care for patients on ECMO support
• Manage patients post cardiac surgery directly from the OR and pre/post cardiac catheterization or intervention
• Care for patients with ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD) and central venous pressure monitoring
• Support patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, pulmonary edema, and pulmonary embolism
• Apply infection prevention practices and isolation precautions/PPE protocols
• Perform cardiac monitoring and emergency response as needed
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions allowed
• Two professional references required from a manager or supervisor (charge RNs not accepted) prior to starting
• First-time travelers accepted if candidate has prior ECMO specialist experience at an urban or academic medical center
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous staff may return as travelers after a 12-month separation period
• Required certifications must be obtained prior to start date
• No time off permitted during the first week of the contract
