American Traveler is hiring an ECMO Specialist RN for a large-volume pediatric and adult ECMO program requiring prior ECMO specialist experience at an urban/academic medical center and an active MI license.

Details

• Work in the ECMO Specialist unit of a large pediatric and adult ECMO program
• Focus on pediatric ECMO patients who are stable on ECMO, including congenital heart disease, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and respiratory failure cases
• Patient ratios are typically 1:1, occasionally 1:2 for pediatric circuits, and 1:3 for adults using a remote monitoring and rounding care model
• Rotating Day (3x12, 7:00-19:00) and Night (3x12, 19:00-7:00) shifts
• Required to work 2 weekends per 4-week scheduling period
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required in-hand at time of consideration (compact license not accepted)
• Current BLS certification required
• RRT certification required
• Minimum 1 year of ECMO specialist experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• IV therapy and blood product administration skills required
• Prior ECMO specialist experience at an urban or academic medical center required for first-time travelers
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• 2 professional references required from a manager or supervisor (charge RNs not accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide direct care for patients on ECMO using nurse-driven ECMO protocols
• Manage patients with cardiovascular, respiratory, and multisystem organ dysfunction, including post cardiac surgery, CABG, and VAD care
• Perform central venous pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response as needed
• Practice infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE protocols
• Flu shot required with no exemptions allowed
• Required certifications must be obtained prior to start date
• No RTO permitted during the first week of the contract
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• First-time travelers accepted if they have prior ECMO specialist experience at an urban or academic medical center
• Traveler pairs are not accepted
• Former staff may return as travelers after 1 year, but cannot apply if previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months
