American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Ortho/Neuro night shift position requiring a SC or Compact RN license and 2 years of experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit with an Ortho/Neuro focus
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7
• Night shift, 3x12s, 7p-7a
• Every other weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
• No standing on-call requirement, though on-call may apply if placed on a scheduled shift due to census (8-hour call requirement)
• Floating required within scope to like units or sister facilities
• Epic EMR experience required
• Facility may cancel up to one shift per two weeks based on census

Requirements

• Active SC or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Experience with Epic charting system required
• Ortho/Neuro clinical experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred
• Experience with tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and telemetry monitoring preferred
• Experience with neuro/ortho conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and total joint replacement preferred

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical nursing care with a focus on orthopedic and neurological patient populations
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient care
• Royal blue scrubs required

• First-time travelers will be considered on an individual basis depending on experience
• Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates within 60 miles are not accepted; non-local candidates are prioritized
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for consideration
• During hurricane season (June through November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
