American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring telemetry competency and NE or compact RN licensure.

Details

• : PCU/stepdown unit within an acute care hospital, 4th Floor East Wing, 55-bed unit
• if applicable (patients 15 and older)
• Primarily adult patient population with rare pediatric cases (15 years and older)
• Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness
• Common drips/medications include PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, and insulin
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4 for both day and night shifts
• 12-hour night shifts from 1830-0630
• Every other weekend requirement
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Uses Alaris IV pumps
• Mechanical lifts available in every other room
• Floating required, ideally to Med/Surg areas based on facility need
• Charge nurse support available on unit
• Additional support staff includes Educator, Care Managers, Social Workers, Dieticians, PT, and OT

Requirements

• Active RN license (NE state or Compact) required at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry competency required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Trauma Level 1 facility experience
• Driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a stepdown/PCU setting managing complex adult patients
• Participate in hourly rounding to support patient experience and responsiveness
• Work within a tight-knit, collaborative unit team
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs (Ceil blue for CNAs)
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Must pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
