American Traveler is hiring a Community Hem/Onc Infusion RN requiring 2 years of oncology experience and Chemo/ONS certification for a 13-week assignment across multiple outpatient clinic locations.

• Work in a Community Hematology/Oncology outpatient infusion setting across five clinic locations (Beaverton, NW Portland, Gresham, East Portland, and Tualatin)
• Adult hematology and general medical oncology patient population
• Provides patient education and care coordination as an RN navigator
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Uses Epic charting system
• Day shift schedule: 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday-Sunday variable
• Floating to all five clinic locations required based on department staffing needs, with preference given based on traveler's residence when possible
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active RN license (Oregon or Compact) required
• Current BLS certification required
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• Minimum 2 years of oncology experience required
• Minimum 1 year of ambulatory infusion experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, and central line/PICC line care
• Experience administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, and blood/blood products
• Ability to recognize and manage oncologic emergencies (anaphylaxis, extravasation, sepsis, tumor lysis syndrome)
• Knowledge of care for various cancer types including breast, lung, colorectal, and hematologic malignancies
• Copy of BLS/ACLS certification via AHA required (RQI not accepted)
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exemptions accepted
• Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide direct infusion nursing care including chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and symptom management for oncology patients
• Deliver patient and family education and support, including advanced directives and psychosocial care
• Manage pain control including IV push narcotics and PCA pump management
• Follow isolation precautions, PPE protocols, and neutropenic precautions
• Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• Requested time off must be submitted upfront and not exceed 2 weeks
• Former OHSU employees or travelers must have a 6+ month gap before returning, and require a reference from their previous OHSU manager
• First-time travelers may be considered based on position eligibility
