American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Community Hem/Onc Infusion position requiring 2 years of oncology experience and Chemo/ONS certification.

Details

• Work in a community hematology/oncology infusion setting across five outpatient clinic locations
• Adult hematology and general medical oncology patient population
• RN navigator role providing patient education and care coordination
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift, 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Sunday with variable scheduling
• Floating required to any of the five clinic locations (Beaverton, NW Portland, Gresham, East Portland, and Tualatin) based on department staffing needs
• Floating preference based on traveler's residence location will be considered where possible
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (OR license required)
• BLS certification required
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• 2 years of oncology experience required
• 1 year of ambulatory infusion experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Proficiency in IV therapy, port access/management, and central line care
• Experience administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, and blood products
• Ability to recognize and manage oncologic emergencies and chemotherapy side effects
• Skilled in psychosocial care, symptom management, and patient/family education
• COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct infusion nursing care including chemotherapy administration, port/line management, and IV therapy across a variety of cancer diagnoses
• Deliver patient education and care coordination as part of the RN navigator function
• Recognize and manage oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, sepsis, and extravasation injury
• Administer pain management including IV push narcotics and PCA pump management
• Practice isolation precautions, neutropenic precautions, and proper PPE use
• Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no mile radius restriction
• Former OHSU employees or previous OHSU travelers must be gone at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted upfront and not exceed 2 weeks
• Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months are required; charge RN references are not accepted
