Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Emergency Department position in Alaska, requiring a current, active Alaska RN license and at least one year of clinical nursing experience.

Details

• Emergency Department (ED) setting within a hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts per week
• 13-week contract
• Patients of all ages including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
• Cases include multisystem disease, emergency/trauma presentations, and complex treatment complications
• Floating to other units may be required as needed

Requirements

• Active, full, and unrestricted Alaska RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience
• Current BLS and PALS required upon start
• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Flu vaccination required
• Proficiency with emergency procedures (e.g., intubation assist, arterial line setup, EKG, defibrillator, ventilators)
• Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to accurately document and retrieve patient data

Additional Information

• Provides comprehensive nursing care in the ED including assessment, care planning, medication administration, patient education, and discharge coordination
• Independently makes clinical decisions during shift while maintaining full accountability for all actions taken
• Responsible for delegation and supervision of CNAs/Techs
• Assists in orienting new staff, travelers, and students
• Participates in at least 50% of departmental staff meetings and completes all annual competencies and required training
• Scrub/dress code compliance is required
• Due to fingerprint card processing requirements, start date will be no sooner than 6 weeks after fingerprint cards are received in Juneau
