American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a travel assignment at a Level II Trauma Center in Bangor, ME, with required neuro and trauma experience including EVD and ICP monitoring.

Details

• Work setting is a 411-bed Level II Trauma Center with a 26-bed ICU, including some negative pressure rooms
• Patient population includes medical, surgical, trauma, neuro, ortho, and interventional cases such as ICP monitoring, EVD, DKA, multi-system trauma, sepsis, ARDS, COVID, PNA, COPD, stroke, and COPD
• Patient ratio is 1:2 based on acuity, with the possibility of a temporary 3rd patient during discharge or transfer transitions
• Day shift: 7A–7P, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required: every other weekend (Sat/Sun for day shift)
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday coverage varies based on need; all holiday requests must be submitted to the manager for approval
• Float possibilities include the Cardiac Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Stepdown, Medical Stepdown, and PICU (for those with pediatric experience and PALS)
• Cerner is used for charting (experience preferred); Alaris and Pyxis are also utilized

Requirements

• Active ME or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Neuro and trauma experience are required, specifically EVD and ICP monitoring
• Proficiency in ventilator management, critical care drips, drain management, hemodynamic lines (A-lines/CVP), cardiac rhythm recognition, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
• Strong assessment skills required
• Candidate's permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility to be eligible
• Candidates must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
• Two professional references within the past year required, with at least one from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse (peer references not accepted)
• Copies of all certifications required for consideration
• Full SSN and a copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Flu vaccination required for clearance to start
• Cerner experience preferred

• Candidates with PICU experience may be floated to the PICU if experienced and a need arises — please indicate PICU experience when applying
• Charge nurse experience is a plus; please indicate whether or not you have worked in a charge RN (CRN) capacity
• Unit support includes a resource nurse/house supervisor, respiratory therapy (RT), hospitalist, and intensivist available 24/7, plus a trauma surgery team for their own patients; PT/OT available Mon–Fri
• Orientation consists of a general hospital orientation followed by 1 shift on the unit
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application
• Scrubs: any solid color, professional appearance required
