American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Long Term Acute Care position in a Respiratory Care Unit, requiring experience with respiratory and vent-dependent patients and a valid CT or compact RN license.

Details

• Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospital setting, not a traditional Med/Surg environment
• Assigned to the Respiratory Care Unit (RCU), a 36-bed unit focused on respiratory and vent-dependent patients
• Night shift: 12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend is required
• Patient ratios: Days/Evenings 1:9, Nights 1:12
• Primary patient population consists of respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patients
• Travelers are required to float to like chronic care units including RCU, RCU2, SDU, and TRU; may spend 4 hours on one unit and 8 hours on another within a single 12-hour shift
• TRU (Traumatic Brain Injury Unit) serves medically complex chronic care patients with ratios of 1:7–10 days/evenings and 1:12 nights
• Respiratory Step-Down Unit (38 beds) is among the float destinations, with ratios of 1:9 days/evenings and 1:12 nights
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) currently in hand
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• 1–2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with respiratory and/or vent-dependent patients strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Proficiency in IV starts, drip management, blood administration, EKGs, medication titration, glucose monitoring, wound VAC changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, Foley care, port access, and central line dressing changes
