American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR RN for an acute care Cardiovascular OR position requiring strong open heart, vascular, and thoracic case experience with a GA or compact RN license.

Details

• Full-service acute care facility with a Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) unit
• High-volume OR environment with 19 suites and approximately 55–60 cases per day (~1,000 cases/month)
• Case mix includes Open Heart, Vascular, Thoracic, General CV, CV Hybrid, Robotics, and Ortho/Neuro — no transplants, no C-sections in the main OR, and no major pediatric cases
• Facility functions at a Level 2 trauma level with some ortho/neuro trauma cases
• OR Techs are present and must be CST-certified
• Scrubbing is preferred but not required for RNs
• Charting via MEDITECH EMR
• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (8-hour shifts); flexibility to work evenings when needed
• Weekend coverage required approximately once per quarter
• On-call required — general on-call averages every 7th weekend with no weekday call; specialty call (cardio/thoracic) is required if cases fall within the traveler's competency, with a 30-minute response time
• No floating required
• 17-week contract

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR/Cardiovascular OR nursing experience required
• Strong proficiency in Open Heart, Vascular, Thoracic, General CV, and CV Hybrid cases required
• MEDITECH EMR experience preferred
• Must be flexible with scheduling, including evening shifts as needed
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement
• A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration
• Must not have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months

• One week of unit-specific orientation provided
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff — flexibility for holiday coverage is required
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7; surgeons on call 24/7
• Traveler's skills checklist must accurately reflect experience — any skill rated at a '3' must represent true proficiency
• Candidates living within 100 miles of the facility per their driver's license address must be aware of the strict radius eligibility rule
• Strong attendance and punctuality are essential — the facility has a formal progressive attendance policy
