American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Hospice/Palliative Care position offering a Monday–Friday day shift schedule with shared on-call nights and a home health/hospice work setting.

• Monday through Friday day shift, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• On-call hours run from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM, Monday through Thursday nights, shared between two RNs
• On-call duties may include triage calls or in-person visits
• Home health/hospice work setting
• Altera (EHR) experience is preferred but not required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required
• Valid driver's license required
• Minimum 2 years of hospice or relevant service line experience required
• Proficiency in medication administration and pain management, including WHO Analgesic Ladder, breakthrough dosing, adjuvant therapy, medication tolerance, and pain assessment
• Experience with symptom assessment and management, including altered mental status, nausea/vomiting, constipation/diarrhea, anorexia, ascites, aphasia, and pressure ulcer staging
• End-of-life care skills, including death pronouncement, perideath family care, and postmortem care
• Clinical documentation of hospice eligibility
• 2 supervisory references from within the last 3 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive hospice nursing care including intake assessments, goal setting with patients and families, patient/family education and support, and positioning to prevent pressure ulcers
• Facility conducts its own drug screen upon arrival, which includes marijuana — a positive result is an automatic cancellation with no exceptions; candidates should avoid any substances that could produce a positive result, including CBD products, even after prior screening
• Candidates must reside more than 150 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate — local candidates are not accepted
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• Travel nursing experience is preferred but not required
• Orientation includes online modules averaging 6–8 hours, completed during the orientation period
