American Traveler is hiring an experienced Ambulatory PACU RN for a 13-week travel contract requiring an active NY RN license and a minimum of 1-2 years of Ambulatory PACU experience.

Details

• Work in the Ambulatory PACU unit of an outpatient/ambulatory surgical care setting
• Care for patients undergoing endoscopic, laparoscopic, and urology procedures
• Provide recovery care for patients receiving local anesthesia, Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC), nerve blocks, spinal anesthesia, and post-epidural management
• Perform cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Manage hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia protocols and insulin administration
• Perform IV insertion and maintenance
• Uses Epic documentation system
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (5x7.5 hours, 37.5 hours weekly)
• No weekend requirements

Requirements

• Active New York State RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1-2 years of Ambulatory PACU experience required
• Experience with Phase I PACU and Pre-Op/Post-Op care required
• Experience administering emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents required
• Skilled in pre-op assessments, patient education, and medication reconciliation
• Experience obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG and operative/procedural consents required
• Knowledge of Malignant Hyperthermia protocol, pain assessment/management, and RASS scale required
• Epic charting experience preferred but not required
• COVID vaccine required with no exceptions

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include pre-op assessments, patient education, medication administration, and discharge instructions
• Provide pre- and post-endoscopy and post-operative care
• Maintain isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
• Returning NYU perm staff must wait 1 year before becoming eligible to return as a traveler
• RTO must be 5 days or less, with no RTO permitted within the first 2 weeks of the assignment
