American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN First Assistant (RNFA) for an OR/CVOR position in California, requiring CNOR certification and a minimum of three years of OR experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Operating Room (OR) setting within an acute care facility
• Functions as a first assistant in the perioperative setting across surgical procedures for which privileges have been granted
• Shift is a 10-hour mid shift, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Call schedule includes weekday end-of-shift coverage until at least 11:00 PM at least one day per week
• At least one continuous weekend (Friday–Monday, starting 6:30 AM) of call required per six-week period

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• CNOR certification required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Completion of an RNFA program meeting AORN standards required
• Minimum 3 years of perioperative/OR nursing experience required
• PALS certification (AHA) preferred
• CRNFA certification preferred
• AORN membership preferred
• Two supervisor references required: one from within the past year and one from within the past two years
• Active, unrestricted license with no prior hits or disciplinary actions on record
• Cerner and/or Epic experience must be documented in employment history
• Candidates must demonstrate recent specialty experience, having worked in the OR within the last 3 months

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include circulating and scrubbing duties, surgical site verification, and accurate sponge, needle, sharp, and instrument counts per department policy
• Assists the surgeon with tissue handling and dissection, clamping and coagulating blood vessels, ligating vessels, and suturing muscle, fascia, subcutaneous tissue, and skin
• Assists with cannulation/decannulation procedures and patient positioning, prepping, and draping
• Participates in preoperative assessment and planning in collaboration with the surgical team
• Local candidates are welcome to apply; no radius rule applies and local rates are the same as travel rates
• Maximum of 5 days of RTO will be considered; requests exceeding this will result in automatic decline
• Candidates may only be submitted to one hospital within the Adventist Health system at a time
