American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for an inpatient oncology unit requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent oncology experience and an active chemo certification.

Details

• Inpatient oncology unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, and Hematology/Oncology
• Specialized care includes BMT, CART therapy, stem cell transplant, and clinical research/trials
• Patient ratio of 1:4–5
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to meet unit staffing needs; may float to like units such as Med/Surg
• All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Active chemo certification required (ONS/ONCC); the ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration course is accepted — candidates actively working toward certification may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent oncology experience required
• Proficiency in IV therapy and infusions, including chemotherapy administration (IV push, continuous infusion, and oral), and body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
• Experience with management and disposal of cytotoxic spills
• Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
• Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Preferred skills include: chest tube set-up/care, CPAP/BiPAP, procedural sedation, cooling/warming blanket, drains and feeding tubes, Port-A-Cath/vascular device access and care, syringe pumps, wound vac, and management of heparin, insulin, and Lasix drips
• Preferred clinical skills include: accessing and managing ports, PICC line care, administration of blood and blood products, management of oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression), PCA pump management, tracheostomy care, and wound care
• Preferred work setting experience includes: hospice care, psychosocial care, and patient/family education and support
• Preferred oncology diagnoses experience includes: Lymphoma/Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, and stem cell therapies
• Former permanent employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months before qualifying and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
