American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience (including at least 1 year in a Level IV NICU) for a travel assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level IV NICU in Madison, WI.

• Level IV NICU at a Magnet-designated academic children's hospital and comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center
• Level IV NICU cares for neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation, including the most critically ill and complex neonatal patients
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
• Specializes in post-op care, g-tube management, trach/vent management, and various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation
• Day and night 12-hour shifts available (7:00am–7:30pm and 7:00pm–7:30am)
• Requires working 2–3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
• EMR: Epic (experience required, preferred within the last 12 months)
• Floating to other units required as needed
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP (AHA-issued only); PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of total NICU experience, with at least 1 year in a Level IV NICU (Level III and Level IV experience may be combined to meet the 2-year total)
• Prior travel experience required; at least one completed Level IV NICU travel assignment preferred
• Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
• Core required skills: IV therapy, UAC/UVC management, administration of blood and blood products, neonatal dosage calculations, and management of anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, and emergency medications
• Preferred skills include: arterial line management, central line blood draw and care, IV vasopressors, therapeutic hypothermia, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide (iNO), oscillators, and post-cardiac surgery care
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Pre-assignment telemetry testing required with a strict passing criteria (up to 3 attempts allowed)

Additional Information

• Provides direct bedside nursing care to critically ill neonates, including those requiring surgical, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and metabolic support
• Responsibilities include developmental care, patient and family education, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, and management of complex conditions such as neonatal abstinence syndrome, NEC, and seizure disorders
• Facility is home to a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and is nationally recognized for pediatric specialty care
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• First-time travelers will be screened on a case-by-case basis if they have Level IV NICU experience; prior travel experience is strongly preferred
