American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week PCU/Stepdown night shift assignment at a Level II Trauma facility in Nebraska, requiring active NE or Compact RN licensure and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care, Level II Trauma hospital setting
• 35-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, DM, and continuous EEG monitoring diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 with nurse aides/patient care techs available at a 1:10 ratio
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications
• Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
• 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700)
• Every other weekend required
• Every third holiday required
• Floating required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab
• No on-call or standby requirement

Requirements

• Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
• Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS — pending certifications will not be accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience in a PCU, stepdown, or similar acute care setting required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Ability to titrate drips in a fast-paced environment
• Driver's license required for consideration (used to verify permanent address)
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as confirmed by driver's license
• Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• RTO of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Orientation consists of one week of onboarding followed by 1–2 days of floor-specific orientation
• A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on the first Friday of orientation; a minimum score of 90% is required to pass
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to comply will result to contract termination
• This is a fast-paced unit — successful candidates demonstrate a positive attitude, strong communication skills, critical thinking, and effective problem-solving abilities
• Charge nurse is present on each shift
