American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring solid neuro experience and IN or Compact RN license.

Details

• GI stMUU (MPCU), a mixed acuity unit combining medical-surgical and progressive care levels
• Patient populations include oology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary and medical patients with some PCU-level care
• MS patients maintained at 1:5-6 ratio, PCU patients at11:3-4 ratio
• Manages cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin drips
• Cares for unstable stroke patients and BiPAP-dependent patients
• Night shift schedule, alternating 3x12 and 4x12 hour shifts, 18:00-06:30
• Charts using Cerner EMR
• 100% floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) in hand prior to start date
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent MS/Tele or PCU experience required; strong candidates preferred
• Solid neurological nursing experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP and non-invasive airway management
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips; drip titration experience preferred
• Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
• Oncology chemotherapy monitoring experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Nursing degree must be from a program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Provide direct patient care across a mixed acuity unit spanning oncology, stroke, cardiac, GI, and pulmonary specialties
• Scrub color requirement: red top with black bottoms
• Short-term acute care facility with 194 staffed beds
• Free parking available onsite
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
• Former perm or PRN employees of the health system must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within the health system must complete a break to reset eligibility before reapplying
