Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR RN for a 13-week travel contract at a large Level I Trauma Center, requiring the ability to independently scrub and circulate for cardiac surgery.

Details

• CVOR setting within a large, acute care academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center with over 1,500 staffed beds
• Cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patient population with an average 1:2 patient ratio
• Core procedures include CABG, mitral valve replacement, aortic aneurysm repair, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD, femoral cannulation, IABP, MAZE procedure, and thoracic cases including thoracotomy and VATS
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
• On-call required: 2 calls per M-F week (either 7:00 PM–11:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM), plus 1 day per week available to stay late
• Weekend on-call required: two 24-hour call shifts per schedule
• Floating within scope of practice required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting via Epic
• Hospital-provided scrubs

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required prior to start date (CT license takes 15–21 business days to issue; candidates must apply before consideration)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required (candidates with 1.5 years of experience and Level I trauma or travel experience may be considered)
• Must be able to independently scrub and circulate for cardiac surgery
• Experience at a large trauma center facility required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• 1 professional reference required for consideration
• Flu vaccination required; declinations are not accepted
• COVID vaccination required (religious or medical exemptions considered)
• Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license are not eligible

• Perform scrub and circulator roles independently across a range of cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• RTO of 7 days or fewer may be approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional facility approval
• Pre-start and annual facility compliance modules are required and completed on the candidate's own time
