American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Central Resource Pool / ICU Float position requiring Epic proficiency, ACLS certification, and rotating day/night shifts across multiple units.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with assignments across a cluster of 4 ICUs, 2 Step Down units, and 2 Med-Surg units
• Patient population includes respiratory, cardiac, and complex medical cases such as COPD, CHF, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and post-operative care
• Procedures and care include mechanical ventilation, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow oxygen, oxygen titration, moderate sedation monitoring, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and telemetry
• Equipment includes Alaris pumps for IV fluids and Acudose for medication dispensing
• EMR: Epic (required)
• IMC nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3; Med-Surg ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• 12-hour shifts with rotating day/night schedule; options include straight nights, rotating shifts, or blocked scheduling
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Travelers are the first to be floated to other departments

Requirements

• Active SD or compact state RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA); specialty certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Required skills: BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow oxygen, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, telemetry, and medical-surgical patient care
• Two current professional references required — one supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience and one peer or supervisor reference from the position's specialty within the last 3 years
• All certifications must be active (no pending certifications accepted)
• Previous employment at any Sanford Health location must be disclosed; candidates with prior Sanford Health employment must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of a structured 3-day program: Day 1 covers competency validations with nurse educators (telemetry and mechanical ventilation), online modules, and self-assessments; Day 2 includes a preceptored shift with unit orientation and patient care; Day 3 is an independent 12-hour shift on the unit
• Collaborative interdisciplinary team includes case managers, social workers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists, and specialty providers
• Magnet-designated facility with opportunities to engage in unit and house-wide committees
• Navy blue scrubs required
