American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) travel position at a Level II Trauma facility in Wisconsin, requiring a minimum of 2 years ICU experience and prior Cerner proficiency.

Details

• Acute care setting in a 16-bed Medical ICU (3N MICU) at a Level II Trauma facility
• Patient population includes respiratory, stroke, neuro, GI, cardiac, and other high-acuity diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, with 1:1 staffing for higher-acuity patients
• One nursing aide supports the entire unit
• RNs are required to titrate drips including propofol, precedex, vasopressors, and all standard ICU drips
• RNs must independently read and interpret their patients' cardiac monitor strips — telemetry/monitor techs are not available for this function
• Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 with full equipment including vents, BiPAP/CPAP, vapotherm, trachs, and nitric
• Two attending pulmonologists with resident teams cover days; one team covers nights
• Charge nurses do not take patient assignments
• EMR is Cerner (transitioning to Epic); Cerner experience is required
• 12-hour variable day/night shifts (0700–1930 and 1900–0730)
• Every other weekend required (or every third based on schedule needs)
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday (or more if willing)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or Compact RN license (must be active by start date)
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation required
• 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant specialty experience

Additional Information

• Travelers are first to float to like units or to serve as a patient observer within the hospital
• Self-scheduling is available; however, travelers are last to enter their hours and block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Orientation consists of one day of hospital orientation followed by two days of unit-specific orientation
• No specific scrub color required — clean and professional attire expected
• Candidates who previously worked at this facility as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their start date
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which affects the travel pay rate
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to the travel experience requirement
