American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU Float position requiring Epic proficiency, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications, and availability to float across MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units.

Details

• Hospital-based position floating across Med-Surg, MS/Telemetry, and PCU units
• Adult to geriatric patient population with all potential MS, MS/Tele, and PCU diagnoses
• Patient ratios: 1:4–5 on PCU; 1:5–6 on MS and MS/Tele
• Epic EMR required; Pyxis and SBAR communication also used
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required (approximately 6 weekends over a 13-week contract)
• Floating required across MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units within the hospital
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license — GA or Compact license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac/vasoactive drip titration
• Respiratory management skills including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, and PCA management
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above) highly preferred — charge nurse references are not accepted

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Charge nurse experience preferred; teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Navy blue scrubs required
• All RTO must be finalized prior to consideration; no RTO or schedule changes are permitted after an offer is extended or upon arrival on-site
• RTO is not permitted during the first week of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per contract
• Holiday coverage is required: if 1–2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work 2 of them
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as 1), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as 1), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as 1)
• No alternate shift or special scheduling requests are permitted — the posted day shift is firm
• Candidates who have previously worked at or applied to this health system as permanent staff, per diem, or in any other capacity must have been away from all facilities within the health system for a full year before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Local candidates are accepted for this position
• Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
