American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology RN with a MI license, offering a day-shift assignment in a teaching hospital setting requiring bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy administration experience.

Details

• Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit within a children's hospital, including a newly opened adult outpatient program
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• On-call responsibilities required
• Performs cell and gene therapy administration, blood product administration, chemotherapy and conditioning treatment, supportive care, and triage

Requirements

• Active Michigan (MI) RN license required; compact licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience
• BLS required; Chemo (ONS/ONCC) and OCN certifications preferred
• Bone marrow transplant experience required; experience administering cells preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access/management, central line care, and PICC line care
• Experience with biotherapy, cytotoxic therapy, and recognizing/managing treatment side effects
• Skilled in chemotherapy administration (IV push and oral), handling cytotoxic spills, and monitoring for abnormal lab values
• Able to manage oncologic emergencies including anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and sepsis
• Experience caring for patients with leukemia/blood dyscrasias, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma
• Two manager or supervisor references required; charge nurse references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in BMT, infusion center, inpatient, and outpatient oncology settings
• Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, CAR-T, and stem cell therapies
• Monitor for and manage symptoms such as nausea/vomiting, altered mental status, and skin/mucous membrane changes
• Provide psychosocial support and patient/family education
• Coordinate care and utilize neutropenic and isolation precautions
• Perform phlebotomy and telephone triage as needed
• All required certifications must be obtained prior to start date
• No pre-hire modules required; orientation modules completed onsite
• All requested RTO must be submitted upfront; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Former permanent employees may return as travelers after one year, provided they left in good standing
• Candidates previously employed by the client facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
