American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-volume Level III trauma center in Washington state, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ED experience and a robust set of emergency certifications.

Details

• Work in a 34-bed Emergency Department within a 226-bed Level III non-profit community hospital
• One of the busiest EDs in Washington state, seeing 200–250 patients per day
• Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, including pediatric medical and trauma, stroke (TNK administration), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, substance use disorder, and multi-system trauma cases
• ED is organized into zones, including a 13-bed fast track 'green zone'
• Patient ratios are 1:3–5 based on acuity
• EMR: Epic (required)
• 12-hour day shifts; available shift windows include 7a–7p, 9a–9p, mids (10a–2a range), evenings (3p–3a), and nights (7p–7a)
• Every other weekend required; back-to-back weekends possible but rare — flexibility expected
• No floating required
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED
• Triage experience required; must pass the hospital's Triage Test before being permitted to triage independently
• Proficiency required in: barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, blood product administration, chest tube setup, arterial line setup, trauma and code response, splinting, BiPAP/ventilator management, and strong ESI knowledge
• Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred
• Experience with Point of Care Labs is a plus
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two professional references from a supervisor or above (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or equivalent) required — one reference may be submitted at time of consideration, with the second required prior to start

Additional Information

• Responsible for stabilizing and preparing high-acuity patients for transfer, including neurosurgery cases, multi-system trauma, and high-acuity pediatric patients
