American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg travel assignment on a fast-paced 4C General Medical Unit with a high patient turnover and observation-heavy caseload.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 24-bed Med/Surg unit (4C General Medical Unit)
• Primarily observation patients including chest pain, abdominal pain, post-op (hysterectomies, knee scopes, tonsillectomies, appendectomies, hernias), and infusion patients requiring blood or antibiotics
• Inpatients are typically those expected to be discharged within 48 hours
• High patient turnover — up to 12 admissions and 10 discharges within a single 12-hour shift
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5, maintained 24/7
• EMR: Epic; Acudose system used for narcotic dispensing with medication scanning
• 12-hour day shifts (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• May float to other Med/Surg areas on the same rotation as permanent staff
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active ND or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience caring for pre- and post-op observation patients required
• Proficiency in IV starts, dressing changes, Foley catheter placement, and general nursing skills
• Epic EMR experience strongly recommended given unit usage
• Must be highly organized to manage high patient admission and discharge volumes
• Two professional references required for consideration: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years
• Certifications must be active at the time of consideration — no pending certifications accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include caring for observation and short-stay patients, managing IV infusions, performing dressing changes, and coordinating high-volume admissions and discharges
• Orientation consists of 2–3 preceptored 12-hour shifts plus classroom training on the Epic charting system
• Will never work alone; team-based environment with permanent staff support
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates with a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
