Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg Telemetry contract in Arizona, requiring at least 2 years of experience, telemetry strip interpretation skills, and an active AZ or Compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg Telemetry unit on the 3rd floor of a hospital setting
• 49-bed unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetics, post-cath, total joint replacement, CVA, and TIA cases
• Diltiazem/Cardizem drips administered at a set rate; RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Respiratory equipment in use includes BiPAP, CPAP, and breathing treatments
• Monitor techs are present on the unit; RNs are required to interpret telemetry strips and sign off at least once per shift
• Charting is done in Cerner
• 12-hour day shifts, 7am–7pm
• 2 weekends required per 4-week schedule
• Floating may be required to the East Campus and possibly to PCU if qualified; travelers are first to float
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Schedules are made 4 weeks in advance using a self-scheduling system, finalized by the manager

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips required
• Experience with CVA and TIA patients required
• Total joint replacement nursing experience required
• Cerner EMR experience strongly recommended due to limited orientation (1 shift)
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license)
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Nurse aides are present on the unit at a 1:10–15 ratio, with both a charge nurse and house supervisor available
• Orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit (12 hours total)
• Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam with a score of at least 80% prior to an offer being confirmed; candidates have two attempts to pass
• A pass/fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is administered on the first day of orientation
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Holiday coverage is expected for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, and Thanksgiving Day
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
