American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ED position at a Level I Trauma Children's Hospital in New Mexico, requiring at least 2 years of pediatric emergency experience and multiple active certifications.

Details

• Position is located within a Level I Trauma, academic teaching children's hospital with 554 staffed beds
• Night shift position, 4x12-hour shifts (16:00–04:30)
• Patient ratio is 1:4, though ratios may increase during high-census periods
• During high-census periods, admission holds may be boarded in the Peds ED for extended periods
• Charting is performed using Cerner
• Travelers are scheduled for weekends as needed; weekend days include Saturday and Sunday, weekend nights include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Floating is required — clinicians may be assigned to pediatric admission floors based on staffing needs
• No on-call requirement
• Black scrubs required
• No parking fee

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), PALS, and ENPC (must be obtained prior to signing — RQI certifications not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Pediatric experience in an Adult/Pedi combined ED or dedicated Pediatric ED required
• Proficiency in triage, pediatric dosage calculations, phlebotomy, IV placement, 12-lead EKG interpretation, and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation required
• Trauma/resuscitation experience preferred
• COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with appropriate documentation

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome with strong pediatric emergency experience
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
• RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval; all scheduling requests should be disclosed upfront
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
• 13-week contract; new contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks in duration
