American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2 years of current CVICU experience and specialized cardiac equipment skills.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital
• Patient population includes fresh hearts, ventilated patients, chest tubes and lumbar drains, and chronic/acute renal failure cases
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2, which may vary when floated
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• 13-week assignment length
• Every other weekend and applicable holidays required
• Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding patients, and all IMC units
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Stroke CEUs preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience required; SICU experience with initial CVICU training may be considered
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax OR experience with fresh heart cases required
• Skills required in Post Op Open Heart Recovery, Swan-Ganz, FloTrac, Temp Pacers, A-lines, and Chest Tubes
• CVICU experience with fresh open heart procedures such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Two current professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to post-cardiac surgery and complex ICU patients including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and renal replacement therapy
• Manage vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, continuous IV sedation, and neuromuscular blockade as needed
• Perform arterial blood gas interpretation, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and manage patients with EVDs, lumbar drains, and hypothermia protocols when applicable
• Floating required within skillset based on unit census and staffing needs, with ratios adjusted for patient acuity
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays
